Why would you refuse lessons? I mean if you do it just for fun it does not matter but if you want to get your handicap down and get better its invaluable.
A good golf pro will be able to see in 2 minutes what the obvious problems are and show you how to adjust. I sorted of hated changing what I was doing to begin with, my 'natural' golf swing felt fine, but really it was shit, felt uncomfortable for a while changing but you do not even notice after a while.
