Can someone sort of explain ladder slasher? I played and it's like a big dungeon then I die and game over? I'm really confused.

new to LS, and id appreciate any help i can get? whats a great beginner class to play and learn the game with? and if anyone has any starter gear to get me going, id be forever grateful! i dont expect any items, but any helpful information that may be pm'd me to me or shared publicly would be awesome!
