I failed at ocing my platform quite hard.. my cards just won't let me. I got my cpu to ~4.6 (8350) and I could run OCCT for 2h then it refused, tinkered with the settings but it never got past the 2h mark, I was mad. I don't remember the settings right now but I think I have 'em saved in BIOS.

Tried to go for 1200/1800 on my Sapphire Dual-x 7970 (non-ghz) but it mearly let me do 1100/1650 and it wasn't even 100% stable. I've seen people get quite interesting overclocks and keeping em, guess my card just don't want to. I also considered going for a aio cooling solution for my gpu but I considered it not being worth it.

If you guys are interested I'm sure I can dig up my settings for you.

Right now I am trying to get my CPU stable for 4.8GHz @ 1.425V. Not even worried about the GPU so far. I can easily get 4.5 stable though...

MSI Z77-GD65. I hit 5GHz on my i5-2550k when I used that mobo. I'm guess you want to run air for the case so I suggest Corsair Air 540

Or Antec Lanboy running AF 120s all over it facing in for maximum positive pressure.

So far my OC is at 99.77*47 for 4698MHz. I think I might reduce it to a BCLK of 99 and go from there. I might also reduce the voltage because it's at 1.428V. I tried 4800 @ 1.45V but it didn't take. I don't think I will hit 5GHz with this cpu.. :(

Whew... got too hot.. :( Hit 90C on stress test and I had to kill it because I don't know the limits of my CPU and I don't want to find out. :P

Edit: Le derp. It minimized to system trey and is still going. Sneeky prime95. It did reduce to around 80C average and 88C on core 2.
