1st overall incoming.

In a all seriousness it sounds like a raw deal for the 7 teams who are not going to get a chance to play their way into the playoffs.

I really hope those who get no opportunity to play themselves into the post-season end up with the first three picks.

The entire format is flawed, but that is to be expected under these scenarios.

In all honesty resuming the season it bush league and reeks of desperation but I should not complain because I know I will be watching.

It’s pretty absurd that Detroit has less of a chance at 1OA than the 8 play-in losers (collectively). It’s not in the spirit of the draft, neither is tanking but I’d rather the teams who need the help actually get it

Definitely. The idea that a lottery discourages tanking is antiquated.
It most certainly doesnt, tanking is a part of every sport, it happens in the NBA where there is also a lottery, it happens in the NFL and MLB where there is no lottery, and yes, it even happens in the NHL. Maybe less so than in other sports, but i dont think it has anything to do with the lottery. Its because the players have too much pride.

Honestly i think the NHL should do away with the lottery.
Yeah maybe there might be slightly more tanking mentalities going around, but i can guarantee it will still be less prevalent in the NHL than it is in any other major sport.

Without a lottery, teams in need will certainly get the help required to keep them competitive, and it will probably even raise the already high level of parity in the league. The idea that any team can win on any night is one that makes hockey great and to me, increasing the amount of parity will only make it more exciting.

Can’t wait to be out camping in the Bush and watching my oilers play some hockey though.

[Beacham] Ducks GM Bob Murray says he tried to stay out of the dressing room this season to allow Eakins to coach, but now he feels "that was a mistake. ... Some of the kids were allowed to get away with murder this year, and that's over. Accountability in this group is going to change."

Last nhl coaching job was with oilers back in...2014? Then I believe ducks hired him on for their farm team then eventually bumped him up to the NHL bench. Horrrrrrible coach for sure.
