we have been shown to take a DE in last like 5 years worth of mock drafts and never do lol

Coples at DE looks to be a solid pick for us @ 5. If Claiborne isn't there and we already got a couple WRs in FA, then I don't see how we can't take him.

yea man most definitely, I hope we get Claiborne with our 1st round pick.

But on a side note, did you watch the game this weekend? did you see that pass from Gabbert, to Dillard in the 4th quarter, on 4th and 10? It was a thing of beauty.

He played a solid game. I counted about 5 drops from our Receivers and about 5 plays where Gabbert rushed himself which resulted in a bad play. He can throw the ball through a wall. Hes got a cannon for an arm and can make all the throws.

He tries to do too much out there, which result in sacks from time to time. Whimper didn't play on Saturday because of a knee and Bradfield started at RT in his place. I hope Bradfield gets the start again vs the Colts, because he looked good. Whimper is just flat out terrible.

The OL can run block great, but they aren't really set up to pass block. Gabbert would be best in an Offense like Green Bays, or the Patriots. Designed to get the ball out quick to Receivers in space and let them get yards after the catch.

While yes he does, it doesn't help when you've played with a RT who literally lets his guys run right by him. Multiple, multiple, multiple times Gabbert has hit the last step in his drop and has had a guy right in his face.

He's slowly improving his pocket presence though. While early in the season, he would automatically bounce outside to evade that rusher, more and more as the season has went on, he tries to step up first, before running out of the pocket. He's still got a long ways to go, but he has shown improvement in all areas of his game. And that's with lame duck coaches for 2/3's of the season.

I will be upset if Tucker doesn't get to stay on at DC. He might get the HC job, but I really don't see him getting it, honestly.

I'm also excited about our Defense next season. Best 4-3 LB core in the NFL when healthy. Easy. We're close to having a top front 7. We just need that last piece at DE. Somebody legit on the other side of Mincey. Coples would really be ideal for this Defense. Hes got great size and is very strong. Hes like 6'6 285 pounds. Not the greatest speed rusher, but that's what Mincey is for. Depending how Kampman returns (he just had another surgery on his knee to clean up a few things), we will have nice depth at DE.

I really can't see us passing on Claiborne if he's on the board at our pick. It would just be stupid if we did. We need a CB regardless if Mathis comes back or not, hes towards the end of his career. We need a great talent to jump into his LCB spot eventually.
