First game back and it is a win! We played alright, wasn't stellar or anything. Nice to get a W right off the hop!

Play was just about right for a roster mostly filled with guys who have yet to crack the nhl. And on the other side the penguins roster was mostly nhl players, including crysby, malkin, guentzel, letang, etc. Even though it doesnt count, that was a nice statement the wings propsects made.

Yeah, pens did get crushed tonight, which shocked me pretty good. Would have been a great underdog win for betting! Do you think we will send the crew we had back, or do you think they might get kept around? I have always been a hockey fan, ever since I was a kid, but I have never followed the lower league, which I probably should lol but I also never do fantasy leagues.

Its hard to follow other leagues because they arent televised regularly unless you live in the immediate area. Idk who will make the roster, but i assume most wont based on our offseason additions there isnt alot of room for prospects to step in right away.
Edvinsson maybe (though i dont think he played tonight) but an AHL year might be ideal for him. Berggren and Soderblom might have an outside shot, beyond that i dont see many sticking with the club this year. Likely a few guys get some call up time due to injuries but thats probably going to be it.

There was no scoring, until the third, but Detroit put on a great defensive effort tonight, awesome to see! A solid shutout home win of 3-0 over Montreal to start the season! Husso was fire tonight too! only 29 saves, but a lovely 1.000 sv% now! I am glad Soderblom was able to get a goal and the W for his parents tonight. Go Red Wings!

Was too late to be able to edit, but one of Husso's saves tonight.

Husso was great, even if it was the hebs. What worried me was our inability to score and to get traffic in front of Allen. We took alot of shots, but they werent particularly high danger.
Allen didnt necessarily have to stand on his head, despite the high number of shots. if we could get traffic in front to deflect some shots/screen allen we couldve won that game 7-0. We'll see how it goes, but we're definitely going to need to work on that because better teams arent going let us win a game where we put up 40 shots but only score one goal on the opposing goalie.

You're absolutely right. We were completely unable to create a screen in front of Allen, or much front of the net presence at all, to be able to deflect or tip some in. Like you also said, our scoring was concerning considering the amount of shots we took. Hard to get goals when you give the goalie a clear view of the puck the entire shot. basically warm up shots for any goalie.

What's your thoughts on our coaches. If you have time to put "pen to paper", so to speak.

Have some Detroit players in my hockey pool.

Looks like the team is really making some strides.

Pretty cool seeing Soderblom score his first goal just after his parents were interviewed.
