At the start of the year. Sakic wanted to give this team one more year to see what kind of chemistry this team could build. It was clear what an extra year of playoff experience for the entire team can do. The avs players simply just wanted it more. And it helps our goalie was just better then theirs. The save in game 4 OT changed the series.

With cap to spare and a generation of young players currently active and upcoming, this team is going to be scary for a while.

I'm glad Grub seems to have figured it out, too. That ties it all together.

At this point , with the youth and the upcoming draft. It's getting so exciting that I'm kinda starting to think maybe Girard is the one whose expendable. Barrie played huge minutes this playoffs series and was tremendous down the stretch to get us into the playoffs. At 27 and being a RD, he's just in his prime for many years to come. As much as I've liked Girard he's another LD, He hasnt been a 'wow' type player like i thought he was going be and his size worries me. It's obviously Calemania for the foreseeable future. And he so happens to be our third RD behind Johnson and Barrie. Graves and Timmins are in the pipeline and I'd love to see Johnson eventually be traded..

Girard is definitely expendable. And EJ is on the down slope it seems. He still has his shining moments, but not what Avs need to succeed.

Avs drafting Byram at 4 was taking the best player. So excited for the avs dmen in the future.
Newhook at 16 gets me excited also. Sounds like he's going to play in college a year or two and I'm fine with that. Take the time he needs to fine tune some things.
