Hell of a shootout. A shame the game and the season had to end with the GK missing a shot.

Another piss poor coaching performance. Uninspired attack and waiting forever to make any subs. No doubt that will draw some criticism since they lost.

This 2nd place / runner up stuff is a weird spot to be in. Not good enough, but also not shit enough to ensure major changes or a sacking.

agree, because it leaves United with 3 choices:

Fully back Ole with a proper warchest - probably wouldn’t happen with a league title or winning EL/other trophies. but there’d at least be an argument for it. 2nd and EL - slight chance of war chest. Now? Definitely not happening. Kane is off to City for sure.
Say thanks Ole, depart by mutual consent, and hire Allegri or Zidane - not happening, would require too much ambition by the owners.

what will happen - extend Ole, meh signings, continue on as usual

there’s been progress but it’s too much reliance on individual brilliance. Bruno and Rashford had total stinkers tonight and it really showed. The starting lineup (which i commend for being attacking) didn’t attack well enough which also meant no one really on the bench to come on and inspire the attack later on. Think both Bruno and Rashford lost possession 100 times each in attacking positions today, which against a fully low block team disinterested in playing football but interested in getting the result isn’t gonna help at all. Even Cavani’s goal was kinda lucky deflection into his path from a long range shot.

its clear a proper CB next to Slab, CDM, and a RM/RW are needed. think this was the same story since 2009-2010 (minus the CBs).

That was a bottle job. Villareal could barely put two passes together and were a lower quality team than the Seville team Utd should have beaten the previous year

Bruno can cry all he likes but he played in both those games and did nothing

Feel a bit sorry for De Gea there because the team should have done the job in the 90 mins

i always find it hilarious when fans of english clubs think they lost because they didn't spend enough money. as if their opponents on the european stage didn't all operate on just a fraction of their budget, as if their league wasn't already gobbling up basically all the talent from around the world, except maybe six clubs that don't have to sell to them if they don't want (real, barcelona, atlético, bayern, psg, juve).

spending is not the issue, united has spent literally hundreds of millions in recent years. which makes it pretty amusing to see fans and club representatives complain that their opponents employed a defensive and result oriented playstyle. that's like the persians complaining about the spartans not meeting them in open field, lol.

when it comes to evaluating the manager's performance, let's not just keep in mind that it took solskjaer a good 100 minutes to make ANY changes to a team that sure, looked slightly superior thanks to a lot of possession, but was by no means dominant, and more importantly, hardly created any real scoring opportunities - but also that united only played europa league football because they didn't manage to make it out of their CL group with fucking basaksehir and leipzig.
yes, they were "only" 12 points behind the premier league winner this time, compared to 33 last season, but that and a runner-up in the 2nd tier european competition can't possibly be considered a success by united's high standards. ole is an average coach at best imo, and united would be well advised to pick up a high profile manager if they want to win some silverware again imo. they also need to replace de gea (which could actually SAVE them a lot of money). not because of his missed penalty ofc, but he's clearly past it at this point.

who said that, or did you just make it up?

English teams get charged more for the same quality players because our clubs have more money, so a team operating on a fraction of the budget in any other league can assemble a PL quality side with £100m

that's absurd. you pay more in transfer fees because you buy all the talent out of their running contracts - but that still leaves all the other clubs, that simply can't compete with the wages offered by PL clubs, with lesser talent. acting like that somehow balances itself out is asinine. just compare villarreal's budget and squad with united's, and tell me how that's an even remotely fair fight because poor united had to pay premiums on their transfers, lol.

Genuinely have no idea. I don't speak polski and from what I could gather from google translate pozer was literally the most hated polski on jsp. Might have had something to do with the ban also. Didn't see the pics since they'd been removed so can't say yay or nay or whether they would have been insta-ban worthy.

🚨 Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have total agreement for the transfer of Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford in an €85m deal. 21yo winger has green light to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical before completing move

good price that. Dembele and Coutinho went for like €130m per

Expensive for Covid19 period. he's already a very good player at such a young age plus he's English.
Rashford - Cavani - Sancho trio would be deadly when healthy
