Honestly I'm not surprised the Canucks power play sucks. Last season was only good because of preds skewing the stats, still had the same shitty moments. On top of that, Canucks struggled against Canadian teams while demolishing American teams like blues, Colorado, nashvillr, Chicago etc.
Apparently this is how it looked against Canadian teams for the power play from reddit
oilers 0/4
flames 0/6
jets 0/2
oilers 1/3
oilers 0/2
senators 1/2
leaf 0/2
canadiens 1/4
oilers 1/2
flames 2/5
jets 0/4
flames 0/3
canadiens 2/2
senators 1/2
leafs 0/2
This is 9 powerplay goals on 45 attempts, which is an even 20%, which was just below league average last year, and far below our total average last year of 24.15%.
If you want to include the last 4 games as well;
oilers 0/2
oilers 0/5
Flames 0/4
flames 0/4
This turns into 60 total powerplay opportunities against our Canadian division rivals, and craters our power play percentage down to an even 15% conversion on these opportunities.
Canucks Record Last Season vs. Canadian Teams: 5-10-0
While Habs have best record against Canadian teams, and then the leafs. I think my guess for North division ranking on the other thread will be fairly accurate. Especially if Canucks stay winless against jets too
