This guide was made to show you exactly what you need to make a perfect Runescape scammer accusation case, should you ever need to.

First, though, it should be noted that you should use a mediator whenever possible. If you use a mediator then your chances of being scammed are greatly, greatly decreased, to the point of almost considering it 100% safe. If you're unfamiliar with how to request a mediator, you can read how to here.

Additionally, if you have any general scammer accusation questions (frequently asked questions, how to screenshot, finding your trade topic, etc) then those can generally be answered here.

This guide will cover how the trade should be done, which screenshots should be taken, and what you need for your case to be successful.

If you have the time, it's suggested that you read through all of the sections just so you know for the future, but, just in case you don't wish to, the guide is broken up into sections.

Whenever possible, screenshots should NOT be cropped. This is done to ensure that the screenshots are authentic. If your screenshots are not cropped, the scammer accusation helpers WILL ask you for uncropped versions. To make it easier for both you and them, take them uncropped first whenever possible.

#1: Gold/Item Trading

Section 1 - Private Messages

One of the most important things to do is to ensure that you screenshot any private messages that discussed the trade.

Things you should show with the screenshot: What trade is being made (which items/gold for how much forum gold), a link to the trade topic that started the trade, both traders Runescape usernames (These will be compared to the in-game discussion screenshots) and any other information that you think could help your case.

Section 2 - In-Game Screenshots Confirming Identities

As clearly displayed in the screenshot, keith ofc is Keith@jsp (which can be compared to the pm), and Metagel is AmaranthV@jsp (which can also be compared to the pm).

Things you should show with the screenshot: Both traders confirming their d2jsp identities with their in-game Runescape usernames. If you are located near them when the discussion happens, you can also right click to show that they are clearly located in the same location. If you are talking directly before the trade takes place, have your inventory shown with the items/gp about to be traded.

Section 3 - The Trade Windows

This section is a bit more complex, but is complex to ensure that all appropriate trade screenshots are taken. This section will generally make or break the case for you, if you can very clearly confirm with these then you're very, very well off.

Trade window 1:

Things you should show with the screenshot: The correct amount of gp or items placed in the trade window with at least one player accepting, and both usernames.

Trade window 2:

Things you should show with the screenshot: The correct amount of gp still placed in the confirmation trade window with one player accepting, and both usernames.

Post-trade window:

Things you should show with the screenshot: Your inventory clearly showing that the trade has been completed, both usernames, and the "Accepted trade." in-game dialogue to confirm (alongside your inventory) that the trade was, in fact, completed.

Overall, the three of these windows combined will very clearly prove that the trade went through as far as runescape-side goes, after this is confirmed it's really just a matter of whether or not the gold was sent or received.

#2: Quest, Skill and Minigame Services

Section 1 - Private Messages

http://i52.tinypic.com/15g4ahs.png

Things you should show with the screenshot: The overall deal (what is being done for what price), a link to the event that discusses the service, any terms and agreements (if they aren't listed in the event), and any other information that you feel could help your case.

Section 2 (Part 1) - The Before-Service Screenshot - Skill Jobs

http://i53.tinypic.com/2dqn7rb.jpg

It's important to note that, depending on the level job itself, different things must be captured. In this screenshot, it would be as if I was having an attack job done for me. The attack level is showing, the experience is showing, and the total level of the account is shown. If you were having a different skill trained, you would do the same, but for that skill.

Things you should show with the screenshot: The level of the skill being trained, the experience of the skill being trained, the total level of your account and the account name.

Section 2 (Part 2) - The Before-Service Screenshot - Quest Jobs

http://i54.tinypic.com/2hzok5c.jpg

Another screenshot that will change depending on the specifics, this one should just show that the quest you are having done by another user as either red (not started) or yellow/gold (incomplete, but started).

Things you should show with the screenshot: The quest(s) you are having done for you, your total quest points, and the name of your account.

Section 3 - Valuables - Bank and Equipment

http://i54.tinypic.com/2vv2v60.jpg

With the introduction of bank tabs, you can place all of your valuables in one tab and screenshot that, but, for the sake of evidence, it's recommended that you screenshot every tab (or the entire misc. tab) if you want to be as safe possible. Additionally, if a quest job is taking place and you are giving the user equipment to use, screenshot your equipment interface and provide that as evidence should you need to.

Things you should show with the screenshot: Your entire bank (if possible), your equipment tab (if gear is being provided for the job), and your account name.

Section 4 - The Bank Pin

http://i44.tinypic.com/9hju2o.jpg

Just for the sake of ensuring that you have adequate screenshots (should they try to disable your bank pin), it's safe to screenshot your pin settings prior to having the job done. To get to this screen, simply talk to a banker and say that you'd like to check your PIN settings.

Things you should show with the screenshot: The PIN settings of your account, and your account name.
