Yeah that's a fair point but I personally feel that number retirements should be for exceptional players, like Alfie or EK had he stayed here his whole career for example.

Yeah the rumour around the Sens is that once/if Melnyk sells, Alfie will likely come back in a management position of some sort. That'd be a great way to bring the fan base back as well.

It will all depend on this draft imo, if we get a pick in top 5 and another somewhere in top 10 it could make the difference.

Yeah we have a fine prospect pool but we lack some truly elite prospects, hopefully we'll get them with this draft.

Still not convinced we'll do anything with Melnyk cheaping out though. It's not only that he isn't spending on players, our management group is the tiniest in the league. Hard to do a good job when you have one guy doing the work of 3 or 4. I think we have the least amount of scouts, don't have an assistant manager, no president of hockey operation iirc, etc..

So this year we have:

3x 1st round picks
4x 2nd round picks
2x 3rd round picks

HOPEFULLY 1 of those 1st is in top 5, and other is in top 10. Seems likely right now. This is a big summer for us.c

Reminds me of 2011 I think where we had 3 1st round pick and ended up with Zibby, Puempel and Noesen
