Unable to identify Version - The Guide

Introduction

This is a small guide which will help you to fix the following error:



This error usually comes up when you've downloaded Diablo2 over the digital download method from the blizzard store and you are running on Windows Vista.
I will explain you how to fix it in 3 easy steps:

• Step 1
  
  Rightclick on your Diablo2 icon and choose Proporties
  
  
  
  
• Step 2
  
  Go to the Compatibility tab
  
  
  
  
• Step 3
  
  Under authority, you should see a box saying "Run program as Administrator"
  
  
  
  Check that box, press apply and OK.

If you are still receiving the error, try to not run it in Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 (The picture has been taken in Compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, sometimes it's only working when you are not running it in a Compatibility mode.)

Note: This method has been approved by the Blizzard Support -- Should you still have problems, you did something wrong. Please write me a Personal Message in that case.
