I actually Enjoyed Prometheus. As questionable as the plot was regarding the direction of the franchise, I liked the franchise taking a new direction, the scenery and environment was absolutely fantastic and there were a few scenes, like when Shaw was giving birth to the alien squid and had to cut it out of herself, that had me completely glued to the movie and have me that good Ol Aliens tension and anxiety that everyone loves .
It felt like Alien Convenant was a big fuck you to the direction Promethius was going and was just trying to get back to the whole Meat and potatos of the franchise which is "Oh no an alien outbreak has occured on our colony again"
You're right, that's exactly what it was, and it was a giant fuck you to us.
I agree that Prometheus was visually spectacular, and that I was thrilled that they attempted to take in in a new direction, and although the plot was questionable, that wasn't my biggest concern with the film. My main problem stemmed from the lack of connection I felt with the ENTIRE cast. From the beginning to the end, I hated every single one of them and by the end, I was actively rooting for Fassbender's character to murder them all, who I didn't necessarily like, but he didn't annoy me either, which everyone else did. It took away all that tension that you got to enjoy, which I FUCKING LOVE, because you're again right, that's what makes these films fucking brilliant, that tense atmosphere where you're almost grinding your teeth in anticipation of what's to come, and had I felt anything for a single one of the people in the film, I probably would have been there too, and I probably would have liked it. Was just a huge miss for me.
