In order to keep my search open I right click or command click the username or thread title and choose open in new tab so I can quickly check last online time and status, send a message, then just exit the tab and carry on.
I do this to message people so I can have easy reference to the thread.
Tbh I probably wouldn’t notice if your change was implemented.

Voted yes.

Could also implement an option to enable/disable this feature in settings, if some are worried about it being too much with stars etc (which I do understand)

I'm gonna vote no on this one

The practicality of it is nice in theory but it's such a niche thing to be needed and is easily checked just by going to a post or profile
If you are going through searches you will probably look at one of those posts anyways in which case you can see the status
It takes 20 minutes for that to change over to showing offline anyways so the accuracy isn't always there
And like it was said before, even if someone is offline, push notifications go through so even if they are offline it's good to send messages just incase

The number of people who will actively use something like this is insanely low and not worth the time to implement imo

How about a "Track" tick that you click on in each thread you are either creating or viewing?

As you can see, each person in this thread has some information about viewed to the left of the screen, so, there should be a "tracking" tick box you could click on, and when you and they are online at the same time, you get a message linked to the page they were on, just like when you log back to D2jsp and you get a notification of someone posting in your thread, guild thread or marking you in a post.

Makes it easy, and when you have completed your business with them, then you "untick" their username viewed on the left side of page.
