Hello,

I'm going to enroll into a web/jav camp at a high dollar amount and wanted to get some info from anyone who has been in or completed a bootcamp. Reddit users are all over the place with info so I'd figure my luck here. Thanks in advance.

Info needed (jobs/money/remotework ect)

I'm a huge fan of bootcamps - these days there is almost too much information out there and it's easy to convince yourself not to take the leap. Coding is not for everyone, so everyone's outlook and experience on it will be a tad different.

I have worked with a lot of talented devs that come from bootcamps; as someone who has been in tech about eight years now it's been pretty cool to see people getting into tech that we're previously in a construction, truck driving, sales, etc - that just wanted a change. While those are all great careers, previously people struggled getting into the field without a CS degree or similar experience; bootcamps made it possible for a lot of people to jump right in and not look back.

Make sure you take it serious and don't rely on StackOverflow or GPT to do the work for you - The boring fundamentals are equally as important as some of the more complex stuff you may face; so don't neglect that or depend on autofill too much in the early stages :)

As of now I use AI and other tools to help me save time + increase productivity; But early on I would not suggest touching it - make sure to take the time to really learn the material as it will greatly help you in the longrun.

With that being said, whichever IDE the bootcamp has you go with make sure to install all of the QOL the bootcamp suggests. This is not quite the same as AI and it will make your life easier with live environments and shortcuts to help you become more efficient over time.

Let me know if you have any questions and congrats on enrolling

Edit for formatting/typos.

Thanks for the reply. I've been blue collar worker my entire life and now am trying to focus on myself and for my family and this bootcamp seems to a possible answer.
It's a 12 week full-time course and begins soon.

create your own hobby projects. use programming to transcend your fantasies and thoughts into real world applications. this is better than any coding bootcamp run-of-the-mill bs. perspective employers love hearing about projects you've worked on and created. get involved with small contract work too to pad your resume / get experience

and these certificates or w/e they give you are still not guaranteeing anything. the hiring process is another beast in and of itself..
