Hi everybody.

I currently have an 4930k and a gtx 970.
I want to upgrade to something like a 4060ti I'm thinking but I'm not sure how much they will be.

My resolution is 3440x1440p. I will mostly be playing Diablo 4 when it releases but I also play Total War and Starcrest 2.
I might start playing Chivalry 2 or Mordhau again once I get this better graphics card. Budget maybe 500-600? CS2 when it releases.

What would you all recommend or think would be a good upgrade from the 970 that would pair well with my 4930k without being overkill. After this upgrade my CPU will need upgrading. My monitor goes to 144hz too.

I'd look at getting a 4070.

Anything would be an upgrade haha. What are you looking to pay for a gpu?

Also the biggest concern is the cpu. Its gonna bottle neck, so keep in mind ull need to upgrade cpu as well. To get the full potential out of 30xx or 40xx cards

If you're going 30xx series or 40xx series you'll want to upgrade your Cpu also
If you're just looking for a GPU upgrade, recently Jayz2Cents did a video with the 4930K and paired it with an RTX 2080 Ti & it was actually pretty impressive.

I see on "eeeeebay (can't use this word  )" there is an RTX 2080 Ti listed for $337 cad used
Your other option is to upgrade to something like an i5 12400f/13400f paired with a 4060ti, but you're dropping cheddar & that's the "budget" route in CPUs, which you'll need mobo+ddr4/5 ram upgrade...
& you'll be upgrading your PSU as well I'd imagine

I think my 4930k is good for awhile but I wish I had gotten that 4960X when I had the chance. It only cost a little more in 2013 and the extra 3MB of L3 cache makes it competitive today. My cpu has 12MB of L3 so it's still decently strong. I only need a gpu at the moment. Another CPU means another board and new RAM, etc.

Most games don't utilize multicore threading as well as we'd like anyways. Plenty of games are single core, single thread and this thing is a beast. Got it to 5GHz a few times for fun. If you would have told me I'd be using the same CPU ten years later I would have upgraded to the better one because this mother fucker is future proof. Lol

Yeah I'm not trying to build a new pc yet. Got too many fish tanks I want to setup. My psu iirc is a roswell 750W. Little beasty still going. I also have a build I did years ago and never put together which still has a relatively unused SeaSonic 1000 watt. I have so much water cooling equipment that I need to pull out of storage. One of these days I'll get a wild hair in my ass and make another gaming computer.

That 2080ti is tempting.

Good looking out. I think I might get one of these used 2080 ti's. I appreciate the help.
