if i buy a physical cart of animal crossing, will i actually be able to do anything/download dlc ?

ive bought and installed the ofw thats comes on carts like kirby etc. but those games never require update/dlc

i feel like the answer is nothing will work beyond whatever update is loaded onto the physical cart, but ill still ask since thats free and ac is like 100$

edit* i didnt mean dlc, i mean game updates

If the Switch Console is banned I do not believe you will be able too, but you could possibly be able to contact support and figure out a better answer.
