honest advice, play through the whole story, buy the 5$ seasonal pass and nothing more, LITERALLY nothing more even if it's 1$. run some rifts once you hit 60 to get about paragon level 15. and always click Find Party on rifts, because you might get some whales that toss in crests for you. then once u hit P15 or so start the hell 1 dungeons that can drop set items (look these up, some dungeons give u no set items until you're much higher P level). collect sets, collect and extract legendary item powers, remember to salvage at the NPC blacksmith in the dungeons, and remember to click the rift portal after exit as many groups stick together to run.
for your eventual second char speed level up to the rift quest then just speed run rifts. the story isnt engaging the 2nd time around and there's not really any reward to doing it.
lastly dont try and be creative, there's no build diversity. there are BIS items, skills, and builds. and if u try and go another way you'll just be doing 50-75% the dmg for no real reason.
