going to meetings, comprehending what needs to actually be done, etc requires human effort atm. don't see this changing anytime soon. chatgpt giving us code is no diff than what 95% of devs do nowadays (copying code from SO) lmao

People have been writing code that writes code for decades. What you are saying will be possible when OpenAI reaches V7 is something that's been possible for decades.

you need to know what to ask first
so analysts & devs are pretty safe imho

An AI can't
-Schedule meetings then talk to various stakeholders & subject matter experts to gather information & requirements for a project.
-Create a plan, allocate work, and set a budget for a project.
-Directly translate client requirements into tangible products and/or product features.
-Perform quality assurance & testing on a product.
-Communicate with end-users about whether your product's features are meeting their needs, then make necessary adjustments as needed.
-Maintain existing codebases.

Programming isn't just sitting around with an editor typing code. It's a business with many facets & human elements to consider. Saying AI will replace programmers is like saying a watermill powered hammer will replace blacksmiths. Or that the existence of calculators renders mathematicians obsolete.
Modern AI is not even true artificial intelligence. It's neither sentient nor has the ability to learn. They're all glorified statistical tools that output generalizations. It cannot draw hands correctly because they do not possess an understanding of human anatomy and visual perspective.

This is what most people don't understand about our current narrow AI. The systems we have now have no conception of what they are doing.

Our current narrow AI has no ability to parse any of the meaning in this following story:
Quote
A man went into a restaurant and ordered a hamburger, cooked rare. When it arrived, it was burned to a crisp. The waitress stopped by the man's table. "Is the burger okay?" she asked. "Oh, it's just great," the man said, pushing back his chair and storming out of the restaurant without paying. The waitress yelled after him, "Hey, what about the bill?" She shrugged her shoulders, muttering under her breath, "Why is he so bent out of shape?"

Our current systems don't know if a bill here is a legislative document, the beak of a bird. It doesn't understand the analogy of a person being bent out of shape. It doesn't understand the sarcasm of "oh, it's just great".

Our current systems are good at some things, but aren't replacements for thinking humans. They are tools for thinking humans to be able to do their work more quickly. We are a long way away from an AI system actually understanding something as basic as an analogy. There are a lot of things a human infant can do very easily that at our current state of AI is not possible.

Dead? more like, people will become managers of AI probably. I wouldn't worry

What do you mean by tricked it? Did you actually trick it or did you just ask it and it did it?
