You should not invest something you can't afford to lose.

You should have it in a savings account...

best guess: Late june/July

I'm guessing thats when the shorted stocks will get margin called/forced to close.
Then it'll take the global economy with it as the investor mindset has shifted since a few years ago.

thats my thoughts but I'm just an idiot and not a financial advisor.

If you have a liquidity issue you can look at a high yield interest cash ETF l

Here's my strategy

Cash etf might be a good fit if you need liquidity at all time
Gif/bond/treasury bond if you can lock in at a premium rate vs cash
Sp500 if you are willing to take more risk and target the long run

If you want to time the market, then you are going on a more risky strategy. Not investing has a opportunity cost of ~n% per year and odds are, you won't be able to buy exactly the dip so the gain of timing the market is lower than buying the dip

If you know for sure when the dip will be, then leveraging your position by borrowing as much as possible money and buying a single stock is the best strategy. Not something I would recommend. Keep in mind you're not someone from Congress with insider trading information 🤣

For tax saving accounts here's my rule of thumb

Celiap is a very interesting mechanism tax free mechanism if you want to buy a house (limited at 8k per year) better than resp for buying a house imho
Resp if you don't need the money on the long run (can use 35k if you want to buy your first house)
Tfsa: if you want to invest your money and be able to take it out anytime

From my understanding, there is no advantage to not use a tfsa vs a margin account even if you need to move out the money of your tfsa. All contribution you put out can be put back the next fiscal year

If you realize a loss, you can only have a tax credit on a realized capital gain in a non-tax saving account iirc and based on historical data, odds are against you to realize a lost. Sp500 average gain per year is ~7%

Also realizing a lost strategy comes with some challenges because you must not do a wash sell

When do you think the stock market will crash since we are heading into recession?

Precisely when ((they)) deem it time. Not too soon or not too late but at the perfect time (intellectuals) will rug pull the greenback so that they can issue in their cbdc.
And you WILL be happy about it too

Based on the news for the last 30 years it should have crashed 10k times by now. Probably going to crash tomorrow, the next day or one of the days after that.

You think it's all fear and no actual correlation?
