Ukraine can demand allies act all day long until the cows come home, but what's more worrisome is the possibilities within Ukraine's own reach. Whether a Zelensky-led government engages in escalatory attacks to draw a response, or whether the Zelensky regime collapses and a heavily militarized group of neo-nazis takes power with all those fancy US weapons at their disposal. Peace deals are a knife's edge since they force exigency onto radicals who want to stoke the fire, we're far more likely to see something go horribly wrong now than the past couple years, though just as much potential for negotiators to finally put this conflict to rest.

We should start a march.

How do you imagine a conversation with russia would go?

Russian terms for peace are essentially that you become a vassal state like belarus

What was so unacceptably terrible about the status quo ante where Ukraine was recognized as a legitimate democracy by both the US/EU and Russia, where nazis held no political power and it was one unified sovereign country that generally sided with Russia and was linked to them politically and economically?

23 years of peace in the post soviet pre maidan era, 11 years of war and collapse since then. Is the average Ukrainian faring better today? The average ukrainian woman is working in a brothel in germany, the average ukrainian man is dead

https://www.reuters.com/investigations/band-brothers-how-war-crushed-cohort-young-ukrainians-2025-12-01/

Reuters journalists followed a rest case of 11 young Ukrainians who signed up for the AFU together in March this year. Its only been 9 months of following them through the war not even a whole year. Its one of our few objective looks into actual verifiable casualty rates in this war. And the rate they found was... 100%

Quote
Reuters tracked the fortunes of Broshkov and 10 of his comrades who were among a few dozen raw recruits that received a crash-course in warfare at a military training camp in spring before being deployed to the front.
None of the 11 are still fighting. Four have been wounded, three are missing in action, two are absent without leave (AWOL), one fell sick and another recruit has killed himself, according to interviews with soldiers, their relatives and government records.

this couldnt be much worse
28th got hammered at Toretsk but at this point thats more representative of most brigades, with losses across the board. Hell they were being put in because another army was being encircled.

I'm not 100% sure but that just might be because of the Russian invasion and occupation my guy. Just a hunch.

That doesn't seem to be a problem for Belarus.

we go around and around over why Russia invaded. in 2025 we have a lot more information then we did in when Russia invaded. the narrative that Russia is imperialistic and wants to invade Europe is heavily eroded. we are expected to believe a country that resolved close to 7000 border disputes with its eastern neighbors had no desire to resolve issues on its western front, even though it was culturally more western aligned. it simply does not add up. We have USAID and US foreign policy all over Ukraine with Georgia acting as a microcosm.

I think Ukraine has had several wasted opportunities - Russia's position has not changed, other then to now concede, or well, last year, to concede that Ukraine can join the EU. That might now be off the table. As the war drags on the terms will get worse and worse - something outlined previously.

Yeah somehow the 2020/21 protests went silent after big bro stepped in. I wonder why? Fear or happiness?
