Just starting to play diablo 3 on pc.

Is it worth playing?
How popular is it?

anything else worth mentioning. I am open to all advice on this game?

I'd say you definitely want to play Season 34 for Diablo 3. Light's Calling theme. Starting on January 24. Start a new Demon Hunter.
Find angelic crucibles. You can sanctify items. UE set Demon Hunter can make an OP Strafe build using multishot (spam the screen).
I don't know how much I'll play. It's my favorite season theme but often times my free time goes to playing Hardcore Ladder Slasher.

Should i play diablo 4 instead?

It's up to you. Diablo 3, especially the Light's Calling season theme for Season 34, is going to be very laid back and offer you a relaxing time as you play. I'm so tempted to play it myself and I just may do that. I can always grind Hardcore Ladder Slasher another time if I play Diablo 3 this season. It's not like I'm wanting to play too much Ladder Slasher right now anyway. I felt numb all day long and haven't even played this evening. I may play soon though.

It will be “popular” for about a week starting this Friday night (season 34 start), and then it will be hard to find a full 4 person game after that for the rest of the season unless you have friends list that is active players. By popular, I mean there will be 8-12 people online in the forum at a time (compared to hundreds online at a time for D4). D4 has a much more robust player base than D3 at this time.

If you haven’t played D3 or D4, it’s really helpful to start with D3 because some of the game mechanics transfer over to D4 (I.e. Pits = GR’s, etc). D3 has easier itemization and gearing, as well as less complex skill mechanics, and will prepare you more for D4. Should take about a week to be proficient at D3, and then D4 becomes significantly easier and more fun to figure out.

I like to play solo self-found (SSF) on the Diablo 3 ladder seasons ever since they added that option.
More rewarding to do it all yourself. I may play on Friday. I still haven't decided yet. I'm not all there.

My 17-year-old Tabby cat just passed away yesterday afternoon. It was a tough loss. Lost my 20-year-old cat in 2021.
I'm trying to force myself to play Hardcore Ladder Slasher right now just to be involved in something. I'm not doing well.

I did rescue an orange stray cat with a nasty head wound last week. Hoping to save this guy if I can. Named him Garfield.

D3 is a ton of fun and super rewarding. Don’t play expecting to make fg. I play a different class every season, GOD demon hunter has always been the toughest. Followed by tal rasha meteor and aegis of valor crusader. Did a whirlwind barb this last season and it was ok, definitely the slowest

Filthy Casual on YouTube always has great Diablo 3 videos. This is a good Season 34 preview to watch.
Demon Hunter seems to be the most casual friendly this season. I'm very tempted to play on Friday.

With Haedrig's gift you'll get the powerful GoD set (Gears of Dreadlands) for the Demon Hunter. It's so good.
Switch to the UE set (Unhallowed Essence) and spam Strafe with Multishot once you find the angelic crucibles.

This Light's Calling theme I played once before on the Nintendo Switch. Strafe with Multishot was super fun to play.
I shredded the entire screen. I may do this season on the PC. I'll split time with Ladder Slasher if I can pace myself.

Yes, Diablo4 is newest diablo game with all the players online playing.
Diablo2 Resurrected is either much players as another newest diablo game.


Diablo3 is "abandoned game" since 2015/2016 or so maybe a year earlier,
2014 or so, its blizzards fail they ruined game themselfs and is the worst diablo game created from all diablo games (d1, d2, d2r, d4)

If you want real Diablo3 experience with all the newest things and all the players = Diablo 4

Just look at this Forums section Diablo 3 Softcore Trading or Discussion,
Its abandoned forums with replies in 2-3 days or 1-2 weeks or months without any users posting/trading.

Oldchoold 24 Years old game Diablo2 is even bigger players community and daily hourly minutely trading/post than abandoned D3 game forums

You can check all easyly and see how many users search/post in each games forums and you will see D3 = noone.
