Maybe if military veterans took more noble career paths they wouldnt end up like this.
More noble career paths than... Serving in the military?
Imagine signing a blank check to your countrymen for 4 years. Your job is quite literally whatever needs to be done, up to and including losing your life. Your compensation for your service? $24K the first year sounds fun, doesn't it? That's gross, not net. But hey, after you serve your first four year contract, if you sign up for more selfless service to your countrymen, you could earn... Well, assuming you managed to make it to Staff Sergeant, you could get all the way up to $45K/year! Wait wait... For 8 or more years of service, your Staff Sergeant pay could gross you $51K/year!
Holy shit. The same genius crying that teachers earning $59,200/year aren't being paid enough, in spite of all the benefits and having 3 straight months plus a few holiday breaks off a year believe that the 24/7 protectors of his nation who're paid damn near a third and insure his safety (in theory) aren't noble. What a joke.
