It's important to understand that Greenland being brought under US rule doesn't change anything for Greenland, other than making them better off. It'll still have its own government with a tiny population. US control is necessary for Arctic security - as Europe is going down the drain, it's essential that control over Greenland is not ceded to other actors

Pretty much similar I suppose - like Liberia, Puerto Rico is a shithole because the people who dwell there are shit and being under US Imperium doesn't change that. Greenland will remain majority Inuit and maintain its peaceful quiet existence

My point was just, there is already a working example of another country that the USA owns.
It is more or less, as you described, having it's own government.

The fear mongers will say things like "USA will come in, tell us what to do and change our way of life!"
They ignore a country like Puerto Rico, which shows that's not what's going to happen.
Things got better for Puerto Rico, despite what the nay sayers claimed.

I'll also add, Puerto Ricans rarely claim they're American, Unless a hurricane hit recently.

Absolutely, you're right and it's also proof that the US having territories isn't unprecedented. It's all just sophistry in service of the old regime and their old irrational status quo ante.

Without the US, PR would become like Haiti overnight and most certainly after a single hurricane

All that needs to happen is Greenland to declare independence from Denmark, and then apply to become a territory of the United States.
All that needs to be done is to bribe like all 50k of Greenland's inhabitants, Denmark is in no position to to do anything about it.
We wouldn't even have to station Aircraft carriers or naval assets like we did with Panama over a hundred years ago.
Could be done for way cheaper than whatever Trump wants to offer Denmark to sell it, and should of been our go to first option instead of being nice and offering to compensate them for it.

~10% of all global fresh water is there
~tons of rare earths, metals, probably oil and gas that's undiscovered
~Real prize IMO is piece of the arctic pie though and geopolitical counter for Russia/China

Rare earth mining and refinement is pretty nasty. If we truly decouple from China and have to source and refine ourselves, do we want to do it in our own backyard or some desolate frozen rock that has 60k living people on it.

And do you honestly believe that rare earths, metals, oil, and gas will be allowed to be gathered? Or is it more likely that Democrats will do everything they can to prevent such things, in exactly the same way they have in Alaska?

Yes, ESG is dead, even the biggest bankers are signaling it. Change is here.

Quote
“Last but not least, JPMorgan leaves too. The largest American bank said on Tuesday that it will no longer be part of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance.”

Citi, Morgan Stanley & many other already exited. You’re seeing some seismic shifts. Progressive policies/platform and getting woodshedded.
