Sweet gig, but the pay would have to be insane to bother moving south of the border.

So you prefer low pay & high prices?

fascinating if true.

The pay difference between the US and Canada has skyrocketed since 2013. I'm not sure what industry you work in, but I'd be surprised if your cost of living situation wouldn't improve dramatically.

Income Tax in the USA is voluntary.
Nobody is forced to pay it, they willingly volunteer.

Well that's not true. You don't have to file income tax... unless the IRS suspects you owe from any time in the past ten years, in which case you may be audited and forced to pay the full amount with interest. You can be incarcerated if you refuse or fail to pay it.

It's a nice dream.

Don't let your dreams be dreams!

This is how things always start. First they say it can't happen, then when it starts to happen the very same people want in on the action when they figure out all that they stand to benefit. The idea is picking up steam, Kevin O'Leary is already lobbying Trump. Trump hasn't even taken office yet. It would be incredible if it happens in his next 4 year term (though I doubt it would), it is more likely to happen after Trump's term when the levers of power have all been transferred to the younger white population (JD Vance & other up and comers). People in Canada and the US are becoming educated on how they stand to benefit: the average Canadian will see his real earnings increase up to 2-fold, the average Quebecer will rejoice at the opportunity to become independent & preserve their culture & language, the average American will love to see the GDP growth from developing Canada's (vast, vast, vast) unutilized natural resources. Canadian land has the most uranium in the world. Young men will rejoice at work opportunities harvesting these resources. US mining & energy companies will be chomping at the bit to start investing in Canada's resources.

It really is a great win all around, our job now needs to be educating people on the benefits while dispelling any nonsensical arguments & sophistry to the contrary.

You're wrong, that's not at all what I said.

I'm not wrong, I understand the Law.

Nobody is forced to pay income tax, it's voluntary.

They volunteered and agreed to pay it.

I'm doing more than okay financially already. I'm not denying I'd earn more if I made the move, but there's more to life than money.

No. Filing for income tax is voluntary. Paying income tax is not voluntary, you are forced to when audited.

You have no idea what I'm talking about.
You're so far past go, you can't even see it.

e- You're assuming there is no way to unvolunteer or not volunteer at all from the start.
If you understand the Law, you'd know that you do not have to volunteer and that there are ways to unvolunteer.

But people are told at a young age they Must volunteer,
and social/peer pressure makes it unfavorable to not volunteer.
