I never heard about that take about Reagan. Paints Reagan as a straight up villain, lol.

This news does hearken to brighter days in politics. I don't think anyone believes that Trump is going to sell his hotels for the presidency. That standard has been broken forever, unfortunately.

It’s a conspiracy theory. That isn’t to say it’s necessarily incorrect, anyone who doesn’t believe there are conspiracies in world politics isn’t paying attention.

The prevailing theory though is that Iran just didn’t like Jimmy Carter because of the failed hostage rescue disaster, so they waited until he wasn’t president any more to release the hostages as a sign of good faith to the guy they were going to have to deal with in order to fight Iraq successfully. This worked out well for them.

And, as far as I’m concerned, Reagan is the villain in regards to the Iran-Contra debacle that resulted.

the entire debacle was a den of snakes. the public was led to believe it was just "american diplomats", when in fact the embassy housed a massive trove of CIA documents which implicated the US in all sorts of bad behavior in the region spanning decades. the "diplomats" were there for a shredding party, and when they were found out taken hostage. not before shredding most of the documents. which were then taken en masse to a local school where children literally reconstructed many of them.

carter's administration then bungles some rescue missions and fails diplomatically, the hostages are released literal minutes after Reagans inauguration. i did get one point wrong, we didnt allegedly give them cash we gave them weapons via Israel. the cash was already promised by Carter via unfreezing Iranian accounts that we held hostage in return for the diplomats.

sad given that Carter's potential October Surprise still wouldnt have won him the election IMO. he got skunked.

Lol you liked his presidency?

I should preface this by saying that I like Jimmy Carter, I think he had an ethic to serve the country and not take anything from it. He’s the only president in recent history to not profit immensely from the position.

That said, “very below average” sounds to me like a compliment in this case, because his presidency was almost disastrously bad.

Botched the entire hostage crisis, leading to multiple deaths.

Complete failure to put the public at ease in regard to three mile island.

Ignored, literally refused to even comment on the Khmer Rouge.

Mortgage rates as high as 18%.

Brought politics into sports with the 1980 olympics.

Etc.

What do you like about his presidency?

He knew about his administration financing and directing death squads in South America, he is a Villain.
Regan was an awful president, terrible on everything, but he gets all this good credit because of how Paul Volcker fixed the economy.

Gonna keep this semi short cause I wanna make dinner.

You said my posts are trash, so I would have thought you saw my earlier post in this thread that my favorite thing was him legalizing home brewing. I guess you can’t read.

I think the best thing he did was probably help those people along Love Canal, along with all the environmental safeguards now in place to try and prevent such things from reoccurring.

Finally, he did his best to stand up to various scumbags in central and South America.

Now. On to your “points.”

I think I would blame that Iran hostage fuc up on the pilot that crashed his chopper. Seems like that wasn’t really anyone else’s fault.

High mortgage rates you say? I’d argue we could blame Nixon more for that one, and Carter being the unfortunate inheritor of that economic trajectory. But beyond that, you really think we should hold only the president accountable for banks being rapacious? Do you happen to work for a bank? Or perhaps your daddy owns one?

And similarly, with the Khmer Rouge situation…. I would say that was all a result of the Vietnam War and all the things we did to that region. Carter had to deal with the aftermath. And I assume Biden is to blame for the silence about Gaza? Even though it’s clearly because our degenerate corporate American media system wants you to believe that? Are you a shill for Fox News? Cuz it seems so.

Politics in sports is whatevs. It’s all just a scam for Vegas and Budweiser to get into your a$$ wallet. If you weren’t aware that it’s all fixed for the house to win and sell you beer, well…. Now you know!

I got nothing left for you and have no room left in my heart for hate. People like you, who criticize great men, yet could never dream of being as good… you’re a waste. You are trash. Not just your posts.

Ps. Oh yes 3 mile island…. Tell me how it goes when you’re trying to keep people calm after a nuclear meltdown. I guarantee no one will be calm for a long time after. For good reason

A great man

I still want to see the video of him filling out an absentee ballot for Kamala Harris, and not some family member or orderly doing it.

I will bite, how did Biden profit immensely?
