This bill eliminates the requirement that a teacher candidate 41 complete a basic skills test. Specifically, this bill eliminates the 42 requirement that a candidate seeking a certificate of eligibility, a 43 certificate of eligibility with advanced standing, a provisional 44 certificate, or a standard instructional certificate complete a 45 Commissioner of Education-approved test of basic reading, writing, 46 A1669 LAMPITT, LOPEZ 3 and mathematics skills, including, but not limited to, the Praxis 1 Core Academic Skills for Educators test, in order to obtain any of 2 these certificates.

Teachers are quitting and persueing other career paths. Its one of the worst jobs on the planet right now. And it really shouldnt be that way. Teachers should be treated with more respect, and I dont mean by their students. You shouldnt be a teacher in the US and making 39k a year.

Instead of using these resources to give teachers what they need, why not remove all the requirements to become a teacher. That'll surely solve the problem. And then people in jersey will bitch and moan that someone will no skills and purple hair got to be a teacher somehow.

only gradeschool teachers make that much, and its pretty much what they should get tbh. i think it shouldn't require a college degree

there should be some sort of associates degree that should suffice, and then a certificate gained through testing.

Teachers mostly suck, looking back at it you had a couple of good ones and a lot of bad ones.
Depending on the State mileage may vary, take a look at the lucrative Illinois pension system for teachers, and tell me they are not way overpaid.

No one wants to be a teacher anymore. The compensation for the challenges faced are not worth it.

Call me a boomer, but kids in my experience are becoming significantly less respectful. Be it the constant exposure to media, stress generated from social media, etc. I don't know but certainly with the shortened attention span I can only imagine the challenges of teaching right now.

its been happening in Wisconsin for years with emergency teacher's licenses. you get the job right away, learn on the job, and complete a joke of a program on your own time.

its not a bad system to fill slots, and emergency license teachers are generally locked into longer term contracts with the district that hires them. there are cases however where a teacher gets hired, completes the program, then leaves the district with the new district paying their contract break fee. this just raises the prices for all and isnt a good market. not much u can do tho.

i got my couple little girls and interact with gradeschool teachers alot. they all seem to be worrying more about being politically correct then teaching kids academics to not upset parents.plus i seen a couple parents waitng for a conference get upset and mad at the teachers becuase there kid isnt having good enough grades.when its probably their fault anyways.
what im saying is the job is so full of fucking bullshit i dont see how anyone could stand it, and this is a perspective from the top 5 elementary schools in the state.i couldnt imagine the others with lower ratings
