Carter left one last gift for us. By tradition all flags must be a half mast for 30 days after a President dies in respectful mourning...That means they will be so during inauguration day.

Sure. About as trash as your opinion that Carter was a “very below average” president. Not just below, but very below average.

Get real.

carter's presidency was fairly below average, with the caveat that he only failed to retrieve the Iranian hostages because of espionage with the Reagan campaign that made promises to offload a bunch of cash to them after Reagan took office if they held the hostages until after voting day. and the Iranians and Reagan both held their word. pretty shitty move given Reagan had the election in the bag even with Anderson leaching 5.7m votes as an independent.

that said as an ex-president he was an icon, and his choice to sell his family farm to appear unbiased in office is a move most politicians should mirror.

Lol you liked his presidency?

I should preface this by saying that I like Jimmy Carter, I think he had an ethic to serve the country and not take anything from it. He’s the only president in recent history to not profit immensely from the position.

That said, “very below average” sounds to me like a compliment in this case, because his presidency was almost disastrously bad.

Botched the entire hostage crisis, leading to multiple deaths.

Complete failure to put the public at ease in regard to three mile island.

Ignored, literally refused to even comment on the Khmer Rouge.

Mortgage rates as high as 18%.

Brought politics into sports with the 1980 olympics.

Etc.

What do you like about his presidency?

I never heard about that take about Reagan. Paints Reagan as a straight up villain, lol.

This news does hearken to brighter days in politics. I don't think anyone believes that Trump is going to sell his hotels for the presidency. That standard has been broken forever, unfortunately.
