...I have a cardinal feeder , an oriole feeder , 3 hummingbird feeders and a scattering of random other wildbird feeders . We also have a large hawk population and the sharp-shinned hawks actually swoop down and try to feed on the birds I feed . Never a dull moment

Shoot it in the face.

Won't destroy it's environment...

Will destroy it's face.

My wife's an ecologist (specifically studying birds, their blood parasites, and their bacterial communities), and a year and a half ago we caught a sharp-shinned that was trying to dive-bomb and eat a songbird out of her nets. It came for an easy meal, but left with a new piece of jewelry.

For what it's worth, his shins weren't as sharp as advertised, but the phrase "watch you like a hawk" is very appropriate -- this thing was staring me down almost the entire time we were collecting samples.

looked like this tho

He will commit suicide trying to get his reflection on your window. Which is why he's slamming into it. Nothing you can really do about it. If you destroy his nest, he will just build another one. You can either kill him, or let nature take its course. I vote for the latter

...last year I had a sharp-shin swoop by at head level at a 90 degree angle no more then 10 feet from my face , it was quite impressive . They have learned to use the bird feeders like their own supermarket .
