Maybe you have some security software intervening. Try to restart PC. You can try to close it via Process Explorer manually and see if there is any difference.



Try to place it into some user folder not into program files, that is protected. Also you can just unninstal and install a new game copy somewhere else and then copy that one.

Oh yeah, managed to copy everything into a second folder. Now I get this script error though. I created a PS script and copy pasted the stuff frm the 1st page, also downloaded Process Explorer, not sure what I missed lol

you did not follow this step:
- Download and put handle64.exe in that folder - get it from the official site: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/handle

Anyone knows how to make each instance of D2R have its own settings?, cause the only way for it not to crash due to memory issues is to run one ultra low, the other normal settings, but i gotta do that each and everytime i open the game, its a pain.

for every launcher, you can add a script to modify this file before you start the client, graphics, sound etc

i was thinkin about it , but had to move a bunch of old data to free up a drive , but it worked, even on external

almost regretted buying that cd key

edit, had tried everything launching at exe no shortcuts, closing obscure handles. thought for sure bnet nerfed it but not the case they need to be seperated or installed independently

Everything works fine. I'm able to start 2nd instance of the game but bnet fails to login on the 2nd one. (Failed to authenticate. Please try again.) So I cannot get to the online char menu.

sometimes it will kick you to Offline tab, you click Online and it connects, quite rare

that's not related to multi clients though

It leads me to the char menu. It does fail again and again when I click on the online tab.

Does work with another PC in same network. But unfortunately not when I start both instances on 1.

Okay, just tested the launcher of the 2nd copy itself. Doesn't let me login either. Seems like just copy the folder didn't work or something with my 2nd version / account seems to be bad even if bnet says "active".
