Hai!
This is my guide to a very simple, and dubiously effective build that I ran last season, designed for "GM" melee dueling as a necromancer, with more style points than every other build combined.
This build is hilariously bad mannered, so don't expect to make many friends with it. Interestingly, when you manage to talk your prey into actually
melee'ing you, this build can win!
That is to say, this necro can have somewhat of a chance vs zeal, concentrate, fury, dragon talon, frenzy, and jab.
It will occasionally do well against berserk, sheerly because it is interruptible, but not nearly as well as vs conc.
It will instantly lose to smite, whirlwind, melee sorcs, and usually charge.
Don't expect cereal dools.

#1:
This chararacer is the #1 gm bm melee build on eats over west. No other character is nearly as cool as a vampire that bops people on the head with his cane. Well ok he just claws at them with his knobby little fists but its still a sweet animation and sound effect. Barely anyone will believe you are a melee necro and assume you're a poison nova trangs necro come to mess up melee dools. BUT, if you manage to find the proper game, and they don't nk you into the ground for using golem/decrep, you can actually win!

The basic idea behind this build is fairly simple: You use a high level poison dagger to apply a big bad damage over time to your opponents, and then rely upon massive amounts of slowing effects and recasted bone armor to make you live long enough to kill them. In general, holy freeze or damage to attacker or just hitting them in the face with your dagger will be your fatality. The reason for using trang's set is not because it is the ideal, best possible gear, but because it is fairly good, gives *ok* bonuses, but mostly because it turns you into a fucking vampire, and a poison dagger necro just looks retarded, whereas a vampire can at least get some lulz points before he dies.
Does it work? Yes...
I found I could actually go toe-to-toe with most melee barbs, so long as they stuck to melee and didn't whirlwind, although I'd occassionally die to berserk. Zeal would usually be a bit tougher, but was still possible. Druids were

#2:
The skillses used by this build is:
20 poison dagger
20 poison explosion
20 poison nova
20 bone prison
rest into bone wall
1 point all curses (besides attract/etc)
1 point clay golem (mastery/resist not needed at all)
#3:
(these stats use my recommended setup; ber in shield, waterwalk boots)
Strength: 106 with gear (41 base, which is
26 points)
Dexterity: *enough for max block*- , this is 240 at level 90 (175 base, which is
150 points)
Vitality: Everything Else
Energy: Base
#4:
Equipement:
Weapon:
Blackbog's Sharp, UpgradedThis is the obvious choice for weapon, nothing else works nearly as well. Your weapon NEEDS to be a dagger, and this adds +5 skills, maximum slow, decent damage and speed.
Theres really nothing else that works nearly as well. Upgrading it boosts the damage only a tiny bit and that really doesn't matter, but theres no reason not to (you have the required stats)
Shael this in order to hit the breakpoint. Ias explained later
Shield:
Trang Oul's WingBer rune. FBR does nothing in vampire form (it uses FHR instead)
Armor:
Trang Oul's ScalesBer rune it
Helm:
Trang Oul's GuizeYou need a 15% ias jewel in one item to hit the breakpoint, so I used this
Gloves:
Trang Oul's ClawsBelt:
Trang Oul's GirthRings/Amulet:
Angelic Set, 2x ringsBoots:
Sandstorm TreksThere are severeal options 4 boots here. But treks help you hit the FHR breakpoints easier
FHR is needed for stuffs
On Switch:
Doom Zerker + Another Trang's ShieldDoom provides even more slowing effect, as well as an easy finisher (holy frost aura damage), which is hilariously effective, as all sources of slow stack.
Obviously you need another trangs shield to make it keep ur vampire form. Any low str axe will do, but you will have just enuf str for a war spike (or add like um 2 str for a zerker)
again its impossible to tell wat speed they swing at, so ur probly better off wit doom zerker, cuz it has slightly more damage.
U should be using this wep to finish people off
yous should keep ur
cta in ur stash, precastin with it, obvious
you should keep a treachery for prebuffing (venom, not just fade)
Charms:
9x BnP skillers, torch/anni, watever scs, u'll need 1x FHR charms to hit the breakpoint, 6x for the next bpthe FHR is extra important, since it is also used in place of FBR
#4:
Sekret Technikes:
Ok duelin wit ur melee necro is actulaly a lot more complicated than other melee chars. Melee chars like to um just click on each other n hold zeal. this is
not wut u do with psn dagger, or u'll lose realy hard
Instead, the duel has several phases:
Phase 0: Prebuffing:*Before a duel, u should do this, but its not ded necessary:
0a: equip treachery
0b: equip call to arms
0c: precast ur fade & venom
0d: precast ur battle orders
0e: switch ur gear back
Phase 1: Before the "GO", or immediately after*In time time, before that conc barb is next to you, you should:
1a: Cast decrepify OR lower resist
1b: Cast bone armor, obs
1c: Try to either get your clay golem to strike the enemy, or have him strike it
*with zeal/fury/etc, that targets nearby enemies, you can have your golem next to u, and this will happen. Otherwise, try to move around a little while the golem is inbetween you
*if he is running, it will be able to strike him since he has 0 d 25 block, etc.
*you should judge decrep vs LR based on duel. against ezier people, use LR for a faster kill. If you're scared of em, use decrep.
*even if you use LR, you're immediately switching to decrep anyway, its just a matter of if u think u can survive long enuf to last 1 hit without slowing him first
1d: Move within striking range; namelock poison dagger them
Phase 2: Engaging ur Opponent2a: Keep attackin wit poison dagger until you strike a single time
2b: If decrepify wears off, recast it
2c: If your bone armor breaks, recast it
2d: Once you have landed a single hit on your opponent, switch to phase 3
Phase 3: Surviving after poisoning*Obviously its vry vry bm to just run around in circles, this wudnt make u melee. Instead this build tries to survive a few seconds to let psn dagger do the killing
3a: If you had lower resisted your opponent for the 1st hit, cast decrepify over it rite away
3b: Press W to switch to holy frost / doom
3c: Spam Bone Armor non-stop
3d: If you sense an opening, that your opponent is taking multiple hits to break your armor, etc, then attack them with doom
3e: Once at 1 hp, use normal attack or holy frost aura to finish him! Your attaker takes 20 damage mod often does it
VENOM TRICK:psn dagger takes the full duration of its spell, PLUS ur 'normal' poison duration, but uses your FULL damage per second from all sources for the full duration
so if u use venom, which has a low duration, but high DPS, you effectively make the venom last for poison daggers duration
with a 20 second psn dagger and venom from treachery, this will add
20000 damage, or approximately +50% overall dmg, dps, etc.
this is very worthwhile. At the same time, u can precast fade, to be a faded vampire!!!
FRAME TABLES:In order to understand how vampire works, it has way different ias/fhr/fcr tables than normal necros. These are courtesy of umm RTB of dii.net

You need to know how to calculator your EIAS for that last one to be of any usage.
In short, the breakpoint to hit with poison dagger is 12 FPA, which requires a
shael in the dagger, and 4% oias from gearso 1x jewel will cover you, but you lose some DR doing this.
In vampire form, you use FHR instead of FBR when you block, with the same frames, so u should really stack your FHR.
So in short, you slow down your opponent as much as possible wit 53% Clay Golem + 50% Decrepify + 50% Slow Target + 50% Holy Freeze
Then you hit them once, and attempt madly to stay alive by spamming bone armor until they die, attacking only if you feel safe
Some ppl will call this build BM. Some ppl will call it weak. Some ppl, however, will call dis build
fuckin awesome
Sample stats:
With the gear I've recommended, using Ber sockets in helm/armor at level 90, this build lands:
60000 over 19.2 seconds psn dagger damage, with -25% resists & -56% lower resist12 FPA psn dagger, 7 FHR/FBR33000+ Attack Rating695 Bone Armor with 75% blocking & 41% DR2600+ life53% Clay Golem, 50% Decrepify, 50% Slow Target, and 50% Holy FreezeAgainst a baba who u lower to -100% resists in hell, this will make them lose ~1000 hp/sec for 38.4 seconds, which means 7 second kill for 7000 hp
Against a baba who had 75% resists, who u lose to 0%, this will make them lose ~500 hp/sec for 38.4 seconds.
And against a baba who conc's at 9 FPA with a grief phase blade, the total slow will make him up to 3-4 seconds per swing ~_~ (80ish frames)
