The same stuff in the plant is used in people and they explode.

Pepper gets injected with the stuff, falls into a fire pit and survives.

Pepper gets cured.

All the suits show up at the end.

The Vice President is in on the plot.

Arc reactor gets removed.

All suits are remotely controlled, and exploded at the end of the movie.
