I have mixed feelings about this.
First off, Adam don't think you'll be able to bot this game and make mad money like I think you're thinking. I highly doubt it will be that easy. If they are going to do something like this, all bases will be covered on their end. So with no bots, and you wanting to make money, be prepared to say good bye to your life. You will sell your soul to Blizzard just like is required in WoW.
Secondly, It is nice to see them come up with an answer to destroy all these D2 stores and have it all done legit through D3 interface iteself. That is nice. But remember, there will be a fee for every transaction, similiar to the one here on LS for selling on the MP. So, don't worry Activision/Blizzard will make there mad money too! Looks like the obviously want a piece of the pie, and they will be taking the whole piece.
And Lastly, my thoughts on it. As I said, I have mixed feelings. It's cool you have the potential to earn real money playing D3, but on the flip side, I hate the fact that I'm going to end up having to spend real money to play D3 and build my characters. I've done that with previous games, and I've done that with LS as well. I don't want to do that anymore, and I will not do it anymore. This fact alone completely turns off the game to me. If I have to spend money again to build my characters in another game, like D3, I simply won't play it. That's BS IMO. So, I will certainly buy the game, and try it out. Especially during the begining when it will be the most fun. If it turns out that for me to advance and build my characters the way I want is going to cost me $$. Then, I'm done. I won't play it and I'll find something else to do.
To me, I think I'll end up not playing D3 because of this system. Tell me, who the hell is going to sell there items for in-game gold? Please... The Real Money currency aspect of D3 will destroy the gold aspect. ALL good items will be bought with real money only. The idea is very flawed, unbalamced, and simply not fair to so many people/kids, and I can't believe Blizzard is doing something like this. Gotta feed the rich and Activion/Blizzard has to pocket mad profit. That is all it comes down too. Good ol' money making, at the expense of all of us.
Just my thoughts. It will be very interesting how it all turns out. I don't think we have all the details yet though.
EDIT: Re-reading through the FAQ section more closely... yeah... The real life/real money currency is going to dominate this game. The in-game gold is going to be garbage. The only way to really build, collect, and be good is to open up your wallet and bank account, and though that may be okay with a lot of people, it won't be okay with me. So I probably won't be seriously playing D3. But hey, I'm just pennies to Blizzard, so it doesn't matter. Wow... this just ruined my hopes for D3
