Not too many people want to do something for nothing. Some small reward system should be set in place for those willing to do it.
Maybe not a tag but some incentive.

If you need people to price your items for you, maybe you should not be so cheap and offer your own incentive (like forum gold or a simple 'thank you')

Most price checkers help out because they think it will help them earn a tag that already exists.

I always say thank you and most time I do it in advance. As for offering forum gold to get it p/c'd I would have every idiot from the site forum suggestion sub forum posting numbers for the hell of it.

You seem to be scared someone else might get a tag. You asked me 2 questions I already answered but I have one for you

What would it hurt to have price checking tags?

No, It will not happen.

1- If an item is p/cd by one of these new Tagged members and sells for that pc then ends up being completely wrong it will make big controversy

The fine print, "all price checks are opinions and not set it stone" or something like that. It's the the "price guides" in the d2 forums. The are subject to change.

It would hurt. People are stupid, and would consider any sort of tag, whether or not it's supposed to represent any level of trust or not, as a semi-trusted tag, which makes all the difference and really wouldn't be any different from a trusted tag. It's already prevalent with the SA Helpers in that forum, and you want to spread that to a forum and make the process even more mindless?

It's also not a matter of being scared that other people will get a tag. I spent over 2 years of my life looking for average, regular users who I thought would be good candidates for trusted tags, and put my reputation on the line several times fighting for and defending some who were not so popular with my peers.

You think that forum gold would attract "every idiot from the site" posting numbers for the hell of it? How about offering a major upgrade in forum status for posting random numbers that do nothing but damage the free market?

Lol...

Fine forget it. Get Paul to scrap all the price checking forums on this site. They have no support and I quote a previous post in saying they are 99% bullshit.

By the way whats makes you more trusted than say me? both going on 5 years, have shit load of posts and no warnings.
I can get insulting from time to time but that has nothing to do with trust. I guess I don't know the right heads.
..and yes I realize this comment has nothing to do with this post.

You and me are too much alike. Your waiting for the next rebuttal :D

I had less than 10,000 posts when I got my trusted tag, and had been a member of the site for less than a year. I too was a little rough around the edges, something that hindered my "career" on d2jsp if you will. However, I did all the right things, helped out all the right people, behaved in a high-profile but subtle and humble manner, made myself known at the right time, and knew the right people. That's how you get ahead in life no matter what you do.
