Pretty sure d2r names aren't unique, you can name your character anything

The sorc I’m hovering with nightwing; notice the health bar above his head cos I’m hovering him, but his name is empty in party screen too

Oh I kinda see it now. it could be a alt code if those are accepted, which I'd be surprised. Holding alt and typing on the num pad 0160 inputs a blank character, sometimes recognized differently than just a space.

it was probablly made with two 0160 alt codes before a patch.
no two alt codes seem to be working even with letters added.
