Reason is that unlike with torches that don't have a separate entry for each class in your chronicle log, ancient jewels do.

This means that I am running a smiter and kill each of the ancients once and ID the jewel. Next time I know for sure what jewel it will drop based on whether or not it's eligible for my chronicle. Then my friend comes in the game, picks the jewel, stacks it neatly into a pile of unid jewels.

But knowing what jewel it drop, I'll always give out poison instead of poison maybe fire. I'll sell all the poison ones that no one has interest for as if they'd be eligible for fire, which I as a seller know they can't, but the buyer thinks it's a gamble.

This should be stopped before the usual suspects start doing it.

Selling the jewel unid is fine, as long as the seller knows which ancient he killed last.

If a user is trying to buy unid poison for example, the seller shouldn't give a unid fire one instead. If it's id'd and it's the wrong one, the buyer should be refunded and the jewel returned to the seller.

It sounds like you might be "one of the usual suspects" :P

great job detective. tell me if in your world "one of the usual suspects" pushes for a safer environment and less opportunities for them to hurt other people. you sound like a cop from an eastern european country, when you witness a crime and call the police they ask "well maybe it was you who did it"

maybe you are one of the usual suspects because you oppose this and plan to sell poison jewels instead? (I know you are not, but see how stupid this type of random accusation is?)

OBVIOUSLY, but that's the point, and there is precedent where we don't rely on what users should do and have rules in place, for example, we forbid "item on ground" auctions, because the seller has more information than the buyer. The seller knows the nightwing is ethereal, but the buyer does not. as such, we don't allow this so these types of events don't happen. Similarly, as a seller I have more information on what the jewel is than the buyer that is getting it from me.

I'll patiently wait for the SA thread and maybe then we will get to talk more about this in a different light.

Well it was a joke hence the :P

But if you want to go this route

Don't be a dumb buyer or dumb seller

It's very easy for most, hopefully not too difficult for you.
