Floyd has fought at a weight below 154 for almost his entire career. 10oz gloves are required for any weight above 147 I believe.

He has fought with 8 oz gloves before. Not for 48/49, and not regularly.



I yam what I yam. I post here often but not consistently. I'm in the Basketball section a bit more often, but only because there are more topics going there.

I love me some fight game. I've followed the UFC since it started but a bit more closely since Dana took it over. I've followed boxing since ... I'm 39 now and I started watching boxing with my dad when I was in grade school. We were just talking on the phone today about fights from the 80s & 90s. I was hyping the Floyd-Conor fight. The guy goes to bed at like 8, 9 PM at the latest and he wakes up around 4, sometimes 5 AM. But he's staying up for this f*ckery no matter what time it starts. I admire the man's dedication.

^ I don't know if Khabib is really dodging. I think it's about him not being dedicated enough and/or having crappy people around him. It amounts to the same thing.

imho Ferguson will destroy Lee. Khabib is his best competition at the moment. I don't understand why he would be afraid to risk his record or a beatdown. This is the fight game. Even in boxing, guys usually dodge to keep belts, not to keep pretty records.

e: +1: that came from the clips in the last post. On Conor & Floyd @ 8 oz. If Floyd loses, people will say he was stupid for taking on 8 oz gloves. I don't think so. If he wins and it happens late, they will help him in the later rounds. Besides, Conor has the power advantage and maybe Floyd wants more sting in his shots.

There's just so much hype going on. I think Conor and Floyd have known they were going to shoot for 8 oz gloves and get it approved for a long time. I don't think this is Floyd just reacting to threats from Conor. I think it was staged and they both wanted 8 oz gloves because they both feel it will help them. There's no way Floyd wants his opponent to get every possible advantage. That's a lie. He wants every advantage for himself and he thinks 8 oz gloves will help him add sting to his shots. He's the faster puncher and if he goes for it, he is capable of more volume and accuracy.

I can't imagine Floyd is going to pressure Conor early but if he does I'll be out of my seat.

Again, Floyd is a master of hype, just like Conor. Good for them, they have the world excited as fook.

All of it seems pretty scripted from the start. Venue issues, Paulie, the gloves, and there will be one more thing to happen to keep it in the news.
