funny story.

i live in a small town, so when people talk you hear about it. there is this drop-in guy that comes out every once in a while to roll with us. i guess he's been talking smack for a while saying that the guys at our gym suck and that he smashed us last time he came out... not true at all. so last night he shows up at our gym for nogi night. he's a 100% nogi guy and our gym trains primarily in the gi (3:1 ratio of gi to nogi training). we put a beating on him. between me and another white belt, i think we tapped him 7-10 times.. then one of our brand new blue belts rolled with him and made him quit partway through their roll. we filmed all of it lol.

Managed to acquire a gigantic blister on my big toe. Then managed to rupture it and had a huge wad of skin missing last night. My coach glued it back together and should be ready for weds night :/

mat blisters suck

we have the brutal tatami mats that are like cheese grators.

We have nice Mancino mats, they aren't rough on the skin, but give mat burn like a mother.

the ones we have are meant for judo lol.

they are very nice, very expensive mats and we have a sprung floor. but they are devastating on the skin.

at least it prevents bad habits like dragging your feet!

That's funny, I was always taught to drag my feet to avoid foot sweeps etc.

honestly, that's probably true. i've been spending more time wrestling than doing judo lately. my wrestling coach hates it when you drag your feet or take wide steps lol.

speaking of which, as a Canadian, what has more influence on Canadians wrestling Russian or (American) style wrestling? I know GSP trained with the nationals. IMO Russians>US as far as technical wrestling.
