We have one stinky/dirty guy and he's been this way since he started. It's not the first time he's gotten me sick either.

I have no idea about how to approach my instructor and bring the issue up though, it's not like I don't want to roll with him. I just don't want to risk getting sick or contracting ringworm or something because his hygiene practices are poor.

Our instructor is really adamant about guys being clean and washing our gis. He pretty made everyone get antibacterial wipes and spays as well as tape and bandaids so we cover up any open wounds and wipe down before/after class. Thankfully no one I know of in our gi classes have gotten staph/ringworm/MRSA yet. I know one guy got ringworm in no gi though. I also shower up within an hour after every class and thoroughly soap/shampoo. Also wash my gi and rash guards after every class.

Our gym is really small and really relaxed, most of our membership are responsible adults so very few people have to be reminded to keep clean, on and off the mats. This guy is the sole exception and he's been told before! It boggles my mind!

Lol, I'm pretty much the exact same way. I drink a lot of water and I sweat a lot anyways, so the first thing I do after bjj is shower. I also use Defense Soap like a nazi.

I could use some tips to improve gripping power.
Someone told me today that I should get a bowl of sand (or flour) and just knead it for a couple of minutes a day. Sounds a bit too easy...

I've actually never had problems with my grip, hopefully someone else has some tips.

I have no real problems with a gi, but recently we're doing more no-gi rolling, and I find I keep slipping. I'm thinking having a stronger grip might improve things.

NO CAN DEFEND MY ARMBAR... oh wait.. Slippery no-gi mfers..

But seriously, wrist control is tough to maintain. I'm not sure how you'd improve that grip though.

He could try hand grippers? Just use a light weight one and do lots of rep to build strength and endurance.

Does using one with heavier resistance still increase strength? Or just pack on more endurance?
