asstahci64.sys is an old/third-party SATA storage controller driver (usually ASMedia). FACEIT now blocks it because it conflicts with their DMA/security protections. The fix is usually to replace it with the standard Microsoft AHCI driver.
Here’s the safest way to fix it on Windows 10/11:
1. Open Device Manager
• Right-click Start → Device Manager
2. Expand:
• Storage controllers
• If not there, also check IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
3. Find something like:
• ASMedia SATA Controller
• ASMedia 106x
• Marvell Controller
• anything using ASMedia
4. Right-click it → Update driver
5. Choose:
• Browse my computer for drivers
• Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
6. Select:
• Standard SATA AHCI Controller
7. Click Next and install it.
8. Restart your PC.
After reboot, FACEIT AC should launch normally.
If you do not see “Standard SATA AHCI Controller”:
• uncheck Show compatible hardware
• or check under both:
• Storage controllers
• IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
You can also verify the blocked driver exists:
• C:\Windows\System32\drivers\asstahci64.sys
A few important notes:
• Don’t uninstall random chipset drivers unless necessary.
• If your motherboard vendor installed ASMedia software, updating from the motherboard support page may also fix it.
• Restarting alone sometimes temporarily resolves FACEIT blocked-driver errors, but for asstahci64 the Microsoft AHCI driver swap is the common permanent fix.
