If anyone likes Final Fantasy Tactics, try out the 1.3 difficulty mod (ROM) for either FFT or FFT:War of the Lions (PSP) roms.

Increases difficulty to...crazy levels, new classes, new skills, new enemies, new balance, new items, etc.

Requires smart use of character skills, do not overlevel or else be destroyed by story battles, etc.

System Shock 2

My man B) So good.
Damn, in the middle of my third playthrough of Planescape: Torment and the writing still impresses me as much as the first time. Hopefully the successor will come close to its greatness.

Still playing Front Mission 3 now on the weekends. I'm about 20 hours into it, so I'm about halfway through or so. Will hopefully beat it in the next month-ish.

Also playing Titan Quest a little bit here and there, and started another Heavy Rain file(my 3rd time on it).

You're already done with Star Ocean? You had to have missed a plethora of content.

I'm still puttering along Saga Frontier; I've become more familiar with the (odd) battle system and the chapter-esque layout of the game so I'm starting to get a feel for it about three hours in. Some of the random/boss battles feel unwinnable at times and you can save virtually anywhere in the game so it can be easy to fuck yourself over.

I didn't use a walkthrough, so yeah I'm sure I missed some stuff. Probably won't be playing that game again with a walkthrough anytime soon.

I think the next non tactical rpg I'm going to play is legend of dragoon, I've never tried it and have several friends swear by it.

Legend of Dragoon is... okay. The ending is unique and catches you off-guard and it's worth it for that alone, but the game as a whole is sort of bland. Sony intended for it to rival FF7 so it feels very similar to it aside from the battle system.

I think it is an above average game myself. I think the biggest issue with it is sub-par dialogue, it's very simplistic. That leads to basically no deep character development. The characters personalities are pretty well defined, but I wouldn't say they are actually developed through the course of events, or those personalities aren't very well played upon.

I think what it does well is it paces the story very well. I felt engaged throughout the entire game, there really weren't any lulls where you were wondering what was happening, or why you were still playing. I do think the overall story isn't amazing, but the curveball you are thrown at the events at the end of the game is worth playing it - like you said.

Never played Lunar either....should I go with that first? Gonna wait until my calculator nukes my entire team on accident and i forgot to save for 5 hours to quit tactics before I pick up a new one.

i haven't really played Lunar either, so I can't comment on it. But, you should definitely play The Legend of Dragoon. It might not be the greatest RPG ever made, but it is highly enjoyable and worth a playthrough. I would definitely recommend it.
