Oh no... this can't stand. Go download Morrowind now off Steam. It's a completely different kind of system vs Oblivion/Skyrim, and it works like DnD where a die is rolled on each hit. It's irritating to people who have played the new games because it doesn't work like them at all, but it's the best of the series by far. The unique items/weapons/armor in the game are  , and your jaw might literally drop if you ever find any of them. Shit is hidden in the most random/obscure places and you'll never find more godly awesome stuff than you will in Morrowind.
Don't look anything up and at least try to make it through the main story. If you ever need any hints/tips, I can give you a couple pointers here and there that won't break the game, or make you too OP right off the bat, but it'll help you further your adventure if you're feeling stuck/irritated.
I purchased and played Oblivion and found it to have a lot of the things that Skyrim lacked as far as story-telling and intrigue is concerned. That was years ago and I don't really have the time to put in to make it worth getting Morrowind. Skywind had me really excited for a while, but unless my job gets a lot easier or my life gets less busy, I don't really see myself dedicating the amount of time that I would want to. My steam library is a fucking joke. I have like 8 games I've never played and a few I specifically purchased for after I built my new PC. When I do find time to play video games guilt-free (girlfriend doesn't directly complain, but I get a guilt trip occasionally), I typically play Civ 5 because I can be interrupted and take breaks while I do laundry or hang out with the lady. I'm a domesticated little bitch now and I don't see that changing, Joshua.
