They're NHL players, which will force fringe NHL/AHL players out of the Canucks D line up rather than forcing them to play the minutes like in the past few years

I think many forget Hughes - Bear pairing was quite dominant last season, I think i read somewhere they had slightly better results than current Hughes/Hronek pairing. Which would mean Hronek can carry another pairing, or the very least have that many more options for Tocchet to deploy. Rather than forcing Hughes/Hronek heavy minutes cuz of Soucy going down, and having to play the fringe NHL more minutes than he would have liked.
