We need to have a conversation about Reed Sheppard. 5-8 shooting threes last night.
His last three games his three-point shooting is 5-8, 4-6 and 4-7. He splashes the net.

What's remarkable is his confidence is rising. Last night he started 1-4 from deep and then knocked down four straight with ease.

Only thing you want to see Reed Sheppard do now is shoot threes in high volume. At least 10 or 12 attempts per game.

He's now shooting 50% threes for the season. Off to a scorching start in his second year.
The Rockets lead the NBA with 43% shooting from threes this season. Just unreal shooting.

Rockets struggled to shoot the past few years. Now they're the #1 team in the NBA in offensive rating and three-point shooting.
The Rockets still have the #8 defensive rating. Which obviously is no longer top two with OKC being #1. But I'll take that trade off.

I think Reed Sheppard is a bigger, stronger and more athletic version of former 4x NBA all-star Mark Price.
I'm not going to say he's Stephen Curry by any means. But Curry's career best in threes for a season? 45.5%.

Reed Sheppard struggled to get significant minutes as a rookie last year. Was inconsistent. Now he's playing with VanVleet's injury.

Rockets are a quiet 7-3 team that has so much depth. They legit have eight guys that can score. They're still getting better as a team.

We look goooooooooood.

This is the most fun the Rockets have been to watch play, in a looooong, long time. I love it.

I know some people on X that are concerned with the Rockets slipping some on the defensive end. Which is fair to say.
But I'll gladly take the NBA's #1 offensive rating and #8 defensive rating. All after they lose their starting point guard.
When you're the NBA's best three-point shooting team on top of everything else. You always have a chance to win games.

Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson look like two blossoming young superstars. Amen is an elite defender that can defend anybody.

Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard look like two future all-stars. Tari Eason is the 6th man of the year in the NBA.
And then Kevin Durant is an automatic bucket anytime he's in the game. He shoots mid-range jumpers above 50%.

Rockets can put Steven Adams and Clint Capela in the game. They go three deep at center. They can rebound, block shots, etc...

And then there's Josh Okogie. All he does is play hard on both ends of the court. Very unselfish player. Huge signing for the Rockets.
The Rockets are still waiting for Dorian Finney-Smith to return from injury. They haven't needed him because they're already too deep.

All the Houston Rockets need to do is acquire a veteran point guard before the trade deadline. Final piece to a championship puzzle.
I believe the NBA has already granted Houston a $12.5 million disabled player exception for Fred VanVleet. Will help in any trade made.
But the Rockets just have to wait until December 15 to make any trade. That is when their entire roster becomes available to trade.

I'm still seeing a lot of Ja Morant to Houston trade rumors. I'm not sure how I feel about Ja Morant.
The Rockets don't really need a big splash trade. They just need a decent veteran point guard is all.

Ja Morant would require the Rockets to give up a couple of their good young players. He's a head case.
You never know what Ja Morant is going to do next. On and off the court. He's just too wild for my liking.

If the Rockets had Fred VanVleet they're likely 10-0 right now and not 7-3. His absence was felt in the losses to Thunder, Pistons and Spurs.
And they still could've beaten all three of those teams if they had just made a clutch basket. They had OKC beat on the road Opening Night.

The Rockets have all that future draft capital. Phoenix's unprotected 1st in 2027 and 2029. Ability to swap with Dallas unprotected first in 2029.
They can easily trade that for the veteran point guard they need before the trade deadline. Perhaps it's an overpay but you do it to win right now.

It was funny when the Rockets played the Grizzlies a little over a week ago.
Kevin Durant told Ja Morant's father that his son didn't want to be in Memphis.

One GOAT Center has to go? Which one doesn't make your list?

Detroit is a powerhouse. :o

They beat the Rockets 115-111 the second game of the season and are 10-2.

But that was when the Rockets were still working out the kinks. The 0-2 start was an anomaly.
