no, their way of life is to be passive and hide their presence. The grandfather was just saying that komamura is a disgrace for hiding his face in public. None of his clan are out there i believe, we have never seen another thing like komamura before so we can assume that his clan exist, but are hidden away.

Obviously, he was exiled, or something like that, and he has returned to gain the strength of his clan. He's about to get real op.
