Hunter Killer, incredible movie

Way too long, drawn out recycled nostalgia filler barely made through it.

They were trying way too hard cramming so much contrived plot devices. I didn't care at all what happened its all meaningless gobbledygook.

Only watched it to say I watched all of mission impossible movies. Just made me appreciate the first mission impossible where it was believable and kept you at the edge of your seat. This was like watching Ethan Hunt open console command and type : activate God mode and break all sense of realism and my attention.

28 years later

Mixed feelings, but mostly negative. The good parts about the movie pretty much start and end with the zombie sequences. Admittedly, they’re awesome for the most part. Extremely intense every time and you’re never quite sure what’s going to happen. There are a lot of them, so it’s not like this movie is a waste of time, but man just about everything else is way worse than you want it to be. The doctor character is also decent, I liked what they did with him

The movie seems like they hired a college film student to direct it and said put all of your wackiest ideas in the movie. Every time they kill a zombie they do a stupid ass sniper elite x ray style shot where they’ll do like 3 different camera angles of the arrow exploding into the zombie with way over the top gore. It’s beyond dumb and out of place, and completely takes you out of what are otherwise very intense sequences. They try to incorporate some sort of family squabble where the dad is cheating on his sick wife and I couldn’t give less of a shit about it, and it plays no role in the story at all. They introduce a character from outside of the quarantine near the end of the movie, he makes like 50 jokes in 15 minutes then immediately dies. Again feels out of place in the movie. They insert this subplot about a zombie giving birth, then kind of write it off for the rest of the runtime, even though it seems like it should be a huge deal. By far the most egregious bullshit comes at the very end of the movie though. The protagonist is cornered by some zombies and he is saved by a group of track suit, gold chain wearing ninjas who slice up a group of infected in a 90s style kung fu montage. I cannot fathom who the moron was that thought it was a good idea but my god it was probably the dumbest thing I’ve seen in a movie in the last 10 years



If you saw the trailer or the previous movies and thought, “this is the kind of grounded, gritty zombie thriller I want to see!”, think again. It’s nothing like that and every time they stray from that type of movie it’s to their own detriment. Tons of missed potential
