Budget:2000-2500
More specific use (what games, what programs): probably most demanding game would be rust.
Planned time until purchase: 1-2 months, sooner if deals are around
Do you need an Operating System?: yes
Do you have any specific preferred components?: would prefer to have at least a 3080
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: not 100% on sound card, no need for wireless
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: planning to rob my corsair all in 1 water cool kit from current build, unless compatibility issues.
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Will need new keyboard/mouse, but if it puts me over budget those can wait. have a decent setup atm.
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 97266

messing around on newegg currently myself, will post builds with my bumps/posts that people can critique, any tips/help much appreciated.

thanks!

Do you know the corsair AIO cooling kit model/do you have all the brackets that came with it? Also, there are rumors of the 4000 series GPUs being announced in the next couple weeks and released shortly thereafter, so, even if you purchase other components now, might be worth just plopping in your current card until that's confirmed.

Also, are you set on the CPU? The i7-12700K is the same price ATM, with a bit better performance and handles DDR5 ram. If you're just going after gaming, with something like a 3080, the i5-12600k is probably what i'd go with. It's super fast (close to the AMD and i7 i mentioned) and much cheaper, while also supporting DDR5.

I can work on finding the box for original cooler, have it stored somewhere. total gamble on if the brackets are in there.
not set on anything, I like amd, but it's a bias I have no reason to have. Ill try to put a build together based on your response.
All I am after is something that will last me as long as possible without breaking the bank on every top notch part.
also have a buddy with a bunch of connectors and pipe laying around, so could get by with only buying/building required components to build own cooled system, minus the pipe/fittings

/e almost certain this is water cooling current setup

with msi 970 gaming motherboard
AMD FX-6300
not sure if other components are needed to know what I'm working with for cooling system, but can list current build furtther

I dont believe the cooler will fit LGA 1700, but i'm no expert on AIOs and dont have a 1700 board myself yet, so maybe someone has some better info on that matter.

Your build looks pretty good, but you can save a bit of cash with the RAM. The CPU supports DDR5 4800 without XMP/OC, so i'd likely just go with that. The Fury Beast chips looks good, just at 4800 to save some $.

This MOBO seems to have about the same features at sliiightly cheaper price https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-z690-aorus-elite-ax/p/N82E16813145366?Item=N82E16813145366. I'm sure the PSU you selected is fine, but i can vouch for the supernova at about 10$ more, https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-1000-g6-220-g6-1000-x1-1000w/p/N82E16817438215?Item=N82E16817438215.
I think thats a great GPU pick you have at $850. I'm just sort of nit picking - everything you have looks just fine, just some suggestions if you want to save a little cash.

Also, if you want to go cheaper still, you could use the i5 version which has VERY close gaming benchmarks to the i7, and should not bottleneck a 3080. That's totally up to you and the i7 is still a great choice.

Also, how much storage are you looking for? I dont see anything on your build, or do you plan to reuse an SSD?

SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7S1T0B/AM - $114.99

had that selected, not 100% sure why it isn't showing.

As far as the MOBO, is there something that's a big jump for maybe max of $150ish more? Either hardware or software that makes things better/easier?

in a few years could the i7 pick up the i5's slack? or do they have a similar longevity?

https://newegg.io/8a7343d

got down to around 2k off your suggestions, but happy to spend the extra 500 or so if it really helps keep it around and relevant for an extra year or two. (either the pc as whole, or just the particular component)
Appreciate the help!

The i7 would pick up some slack in non gaming apps for sure, and is slightly faster for games still, so it's not a waste if you're OK at the price.
Id think that mobo will last until your cpu/lga 1700 is irrelevant, so not much more to invest in there.

That mobo should be more than OK until cpu/lga 1700 is irrelevant.

If it were my build focused on gaming and I had an extra 500, I'd probably go with another monitor(if you don't have 2 already), a faster gpu (3080ti/3090, though you definitely start to lose price/performance value after the 3080), more storage (2nd m2 or larger one), or something that can go to your next build like an open loop liquid cooling setup.

But before all that, If you're planning to purchase in 1-2mo still, and if the rumors of 4000 series gpu are true, you may be able to grab a new release 4080/4090 (if that's the name they go with) at a higher price but even better price/performance.
