Looking for something that is decent bang for buck. Not really interested in spending 1k+ for some of the top ones out there. Wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction. I have basically zero knowledge on monitors these days.

Make sure your hardware supports 4k and what frames are you targeting on PC?

My pc definitely doesnt need 4k,mostly want it for Ps5 tbh. I've done a bit if research since I posted today and seen that most 4k monitors with 144 refresh are like 1k minimum. I might just suck it up and get a 2-3k for less than half the price.

Honestly, I don't think PS5 can push those frames at 4k. I think it's native 120hz with a DP or HDMI2 cord at 1080P. I don't know enough about consoles, but PS5 with a 4k monitor (depending on size too) wouldn't need more than a 60hz monitor. Maybe someone more up to date on modern consoles can verify this or elaborate.

Doesn't ps5 support up to 8k though? I'm not an expert myself, but it advertises as so. I'd love to hear some more tbh because from what I've seen so far, it's a waste of money to buy a 4k monitor atm.

Brief reading implies not all games can obtain 60fps in 4k display (not surprised) and that 8k gaming is going to be obtained through upscaling, not true 8k and those frames won't be obtained

You could go for a 4k 60fps display and that would satisfy the hardware output

4k 144hz in the pc world requires very expensive hardware, so this all makes sense to me

https://www.psu.com/news/all-ps5-games-that-support-120-fps-the-smoothest-games-on-playstation-5/

Here’s a list of ps5 games that can be run at 120fps. Some have to be run at 1080p or use specific settings.

I’ve always run my ps5/Xbox at 4k/60hz for what it’s worth. You can find one of those for 250-350. Idk if the extra double/triple price is worth the frames or not to you.

Dont need 144hz refresh for a ps5. Its gonna run between 30-60. Just because some games are listed that they CAN run 120fps.... doesnt mean they just sit there are run continuously at 120fps. Anyone who knows anything knows games dont run like that.

I think the main problem with ps5, you MUST HAVE an hdmi 2.1 compatible monitor to hit that 120 refresh rate. And the market for 2.1 tvs/monitors is limited and they are expensive

If you are hxc fps player, go for 1080p 144hz monitor

If you are into aesthetically pleasing games, rts etc, go for 4k 60hz monitor

If you play a bit of both, go for a 1440p 100hz monitor

I find 1440p to be the sweet spot for performance/aesthetic ratio with decent, more modern hardware

I dont care about specs
budget and intended uses along with yrs planned of use
monitors usually are used through multiple upgrades
