atm i own 6850, oced it to 850, but it still does not run hon smooth with supersample+max video setting possible.

it gets rly hot(70-75 and fan gets rly noicy,a nd i love my machine to be cool and quite :D)+drops fps at massive stuff.

if i crossfire it with another 6850, will it go smooth after?

or shall i just get new vid card, and wich one :)

i only need for hon, max possible settings with max fps.

rig=

seasoni 500w
i3 540 4.5mhz
4gb ram

it's not really hot for a graphics card when gaming..
i wouldn't crossfire if i were you because not all games suport crossfire.
depending on which 6850 you have, you could always change the cooler on it , so it runs cooler & less noisy .
tho you need a reference model graphics card to do that

/e you can't crossfire on your system because your power supply won't give enough power & your cpu will bottleneck you

your power supply won't provide enough power for 2 6850 in crossfire & you'd need to overclock to get rid of your bottleneck , but you have a limited multiplier.
you don't need a new computer , you can just upgrade your graphics card since your stuff isn't too outdated.

/e any cpu gets bottlenecked in systems with 2 + graphics card btw...

doesn't matter , pcie 3.0 vs pcie 2.0 isn't a noticeable performance boost right now.
1156 is still good , if you wanna buy a new cpu , just wait for 1150 ( haswel) , that's going to be the next gen stuff, it should be released in the summer... so just wait 2-3 months...
btw , ivy & sandy @ 4.5ghz under full load @ 40C doesn't make sense with a hyper 212+ .

/e ivy runs hotter after 4.5ghz , but the performance is equal to a sandy @ 4.8 ghz...

are you srs? :D?
its not everything locked, you still can play with speeds and volt etc etc.

if i gonna purchase a new card it will be 7970, and im pretty sure it will be bottlenecked xD

by locked , he means that you have a limited multiplier compared to unlocked cpu's...
