Anyone know some good guitar amps around 250-500 USD? I've been looking at the Vox AC30:

Very vague question. What kind of music are you wanting to play? AC30s are great, but what are you wanting to play?

AC30 will kick ass for that. It's a great amplifier. I will say it's not overly versatile and you will need an overdrive or distortion pedal to probably get the gain you want. I will say it works better with single coils or P90's as far as pickups go. If you want a good solid rock/metal distortion the industry standard for most people ends up being the Peavey 5150 or 6505. You can purchase a 60watt 112 combo version that can run a cab if you want, or you can find the 5150 heads (and grab a cheap cab for the moment) for around $650'ish.

Dang thats a little more expensive then I was hoping. I'm gonna have to save up a bit, I have about $400 to spend right now saved up.

Thanks for the input, it is greatly appreciated.

You did post this with a picture of an AC30 saying you were looking at one, and that is a $1,000 amplifier new....I mean if all you have is 400 and you are not dead set on a tube amplifier look into the Fender Mustange III and IV amplifiers. They are fenders take on a modeling amp and sound quite good and have a lot of useful and versatile features as well as plenty of power for practice and gigs. If you are fine with used, then go purchase a Fender Hotrod Deluxe.. it's 40 watts, all tube with a single 12" speaker. It's a solid amp, and used they go for about 400'ish usually. Check your local craigslist.

I just bought a Vox VT 40+ with the 5 channel foot thingy. Wild sounding beast but I've never owned anything like it before so i'm reading the book atm.
got it and the foot pedal still in the box for $220 Canadian off a guy that gave up trying :)
